5Rhythms® through the year
OCEAN OF POSSIBILITIES ~ with Mark Austin
From a 5Rhythms lens, it seems the whole planet has been dancing a Rhythm of Chaos in recent times. This workshop will provide tools for us to channel the safety of our embodied wisdom, softening our natural longing to control, as we ride the global wave from Chaos towards Lyrical.
Using the 5Rhythms map in support, we'll work with the motions of "letting go", and "letting go of letting go", creating space and becoming curious about whatever remains.
Both the Friday open class and the Saturday workshop are suitable for beginners and experienced 5Rhythms dancers, along with every other possibility in between and all around!
"Ocean of Possibilities" is one of a triptych of workshops that have been offered internationally in four countries. Alongside the other two workshops, “Ground and Sky” and “Still Moving”, the triptych can be completed in any order, with each standing alone as a complete workshop in its own right.
The open wave and workshop hours from the weekend count towards 5Rhythms Teacher Training Waves prerequisites. You are able to stay overning in the hall, or camp in its grounds, for £10/night. Tick this option when you register for the Friday and/or Saturday date.
NB: If the Friday evening is full, please note that we have reserved four spaces for potential Saturday dancers: if you are booking for Saturday and want one of these, please email
For those who want to remain after the workshop until Sunday, you’re very welcome to join Mark for an easy to moderate hike (about a 4 hour round trip) from the banks of Lake Thirlmere to a neolithic / early Bronze Age stone circle (constructed circa 3200BC.)
Both the hike and the stones will be an opportunity to further integrate the learnings from the workshop. The stones are thought to be amongst the oldest stone circles in Europe and their true purpose remains a mystery. Given their historical significance, surprisingly little is known about them and they have never been scientifically dated.
